Mutual Aid Agreements (MAA's) provide for the sharing of supplies, equipment, personnel and information across jurisdictional boundaries. Ships Point Improvement District has MAA's in place for both our fire protection services and our water operations. SPID fire department has two MAA's in place - one with Deep Bay/RDN and Fanny Bay Fire Dept/CVRD and one with Comox Valley Regional District, Courtenay, Cumberland, Union Bay Improvement District and Campbell River. Our water department has one MAA with the Comox Valley Regional District, Cumberland, Union Bay Improvement District and the K'omoks First Nation.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: Please note that effective April 30, 2024, all burning permits are cancelled and a Fire Ban is in place across the Comox Valley including Ships Point. A reminder that beach fires are NOT allowed anywhere within the Ships Point Improvement District at any time of year. Backyard campfires are currently allowed but must be ULC/CSA approved or inspected and approved by the Fire Chief. Thank you for your cooperation.
