A burning permit is required for any open burning during the fire season which is generally from April 15 to October 15 each year. Open burning is defined as an outdoor fire not contained in a commercially compliant fire pit or an authorized outdoor fire pit / fireplace. To obtain a burning permit, download and complete the form below and then take it to a member of the SPID Fire Department for their approval and signature.
If you burn without a permit when it is required or are not following the conditions of the permit, you can expect the fire department to visit you and extinguish the fire.
